Daily update for Year 1 Bach B
Hi!
This morning we continued checking the exercises on pages 10 and 11 (SB) and we did all of them but the Grammar Challenge.
Homework: I asked you to do exercise 1 on page 12 and I told you that for the weekend you will have to find a similar website (a real one) of a museum and write down all the info that could be used to answer questions like the ones on exercise 1. I am giving you more info about this project tomorrow morning.

Hi there!
This morning we continued checking exercises on pages 10 and 11 of your SB. We finished all of them.
Homework: I asked you to read the text on page 12 (COMMUNICATION: Buying Tickets) and answer the questions on exercise 1. Also, I want you to go online and find a website similar to the one for the Boston Museum of Science (there are tons of museums around the world: MOMA, British Museum, Smithsonian...). Once you have found it, keep it and write down all the information that could be used to answer questions like the ones in exercise 1. You will use that information for your speaking exam soon.

Hola!
En la clase de hoy corregimos el ejercicio 4 de la página 6 del Student's Book y el 5, 6 y 7 de la página 7.
Al terminar, pasamos al Workbook, donde corregimos los ejercicios de la página 5.
Mañana repasaremos el Presente Continuo y haremos el 8 y 9 de la página 7 del SB.

Daily update for Year 1 Bach A
This morning in our class...
I did a quick review on the most important aspects you must know about Present Simple, Present Continuous, Past Simple and Past Continuous, which are all part of ESO. This review included:
1. The different forms of verbs in those tenses and in different types of sentences (Aff, Neg and Qs).
2. What to use these tenses for (according to how actions relate to time context)
3. Time expressions that go with them.
Then we checked exercises 1 and 2 on page 10 of your SB.
Hopefully, tomorrow we will go quicker.

Daily update for Year 3 ESO A
Hoy en clase de 3 ESO A hablamos del Presente Continuo y de sus 3 usos:
1. Para indicar acciones que están sucediendo ahora mismo.
Por ejemplo: She is reading a book now.
2. Para indicar planes que van a ocurrir en un futuro cercano.
I am having dinner with Tom tonight.
3. Para acciones que están ocurriendo durante esta temporada, pero que no son permanentes.
They are watching a new TV series this month.
Además, también dijimos que para formar un Presente Continuo necesitamos un verbo auxiliar (verbo BE) en presente y luego el verbo principal debe terminar en -ing.
Por último, hicimos práctica con los ejercicios 8 y 9 de la página 7 del Student's Book.
También recordé que debéis ir haciendo ejercicios del Libro Interactivo por vuestra cuenta.

Daily update for Year 1 Bach B
Hi there!
Today in our class we talked about the main features of four basic tenses: Present Simple, Present Continuous, Past Simple and Past Continuous. Among some others, the most important are:
1. Why do these tenses receive such names?
2. What do we use them for?
3. Which time expressions tend to appear with them?
4. How do we use them in AFF, NEG and questions?
Finally we started checking the exercises on page 10 but we could only get to exercise1 sentence 2, which will be our starting point next day.
REMEMBER: If you feel insecure about these tenses, do not hesitate to read the Rules on pages 116 and 117 and do the Basic Practice.

Daily update for Year 3 ESO A
Esta mañana comenté el acceso al blog a través de mi curso en el Aula Virtual del instituto (motivo por el cual os envié un correo este pasado domingo), luego recordamos a los que no estuvieron cómo acceder al registro en el Libro Digital y en el Interactivo y por último hicimos un breve repaso del Presente Simple antes de explicar las características básicas del Presente Continuo.
Deberes: Hacer los ejercicios 8 y 9 de la página 7 y no olvidéis que tanto para el Presente Simple como para el Presente Continuo tenéis (justo debajo de los cuadros y encima de los ejercicios) una indicación para que consultéis el Grammar Appendix en la parte trasera del Workbook (páginas 96 y 97).

Daily update for Year 3 ESO B
Hoy en clase os recordé que os había enviado un correo ayer domingo para informaros de que había creado un curso en el Aula Virtual de nuestro insti, pero que sólo va a servir como tablón de anuncios desde el cual podréis acceder a mi blog si en algún momento os despistáis y no recordáis cómo llegar a él, o sea, aquí.
En cuanto nos pusimos a trabajar, repasamos:
1. Qué es el Presente Simple (=un tiempo verbal; no un verbo) y por qué se llama así (porque en afirmativa el verbo es simplemente una palabra, sin ningún verbo auxiliar)
2. Cuándo se usa y para qué: para las rutinas (en contraste, por ejemplo, con el Presente Continuo)
3. Cómo se construyen oraciones afirmativas, negativas e interrogativas en Present Simple y cómo las terceras personas del singular (he, she, it) siempre tienen que dar la nota.
4. Repasamos QASI (Question Auxiliary Subject Infinitive): El orden de los elementos que forman una oración interrogativa.
5. Recordamos los dos tipos de oraciones interrogativas: Yes/No Questions y las Wh-Questions
6. Vimos las Grammar Animations del Presente Simple.
7. Recordamos los adverbios de frecuencia más comunes y dónde se colocan: antes del verbo excepto en el caso del verbo BE.
No nos dio tiempo a corregir los deberes que venían para hoy (pág 7, ejs 5, 6 y 7). Por lo tanto, sumamos ahora el 8 y 9 sobre el Presente Continuo.

Daily update for Year 1 Bach B
Today in our quiet class we practised describing photoshopped pics (we talked about the history of Ellis Island), then we did the Listening on page 9 (including exercises 7-10), we talked about misinformation and we paid attention to the Listening Strategy which advises us to read statements and questions before listening so that we can predict some of its content.
Homework: all exercises on page 10 (Grammar sections)

En 3ESO B también expliqué cómo acceder a este blog, recordé a algunos cómo registrarse en el libro digital e hicimos los ejercicios 1, 2 y 3 de la página 6 del Student's Book. De deberes hay que hacer los ejercicios 4,5,6 y 7 de las páginas 6 y 7 del Student's Book.

Today, Thursday 22nd of October in 3 ESO B
Hola de nuevo a los de 3º ESO B!
Hoy en clase hicimos los ejercicios de la página 4 del Workbook para repasar el vocabulario de esta unidad de introducción.
Mañana acabaremos de ver las GRAMMAR ANIMATION del Student's Book y haremos los ejercicios de la página 6 del Student's Book.

Información de clase para 3º de ESO
Hola chicos,
tal y como os acabo de decir por correo electrónico, a partir de hoy os voy a poner en el blog a diario lo que hacemos en clase y cuáles son los deberes. Esto tiene como finalidad que los que estéis en casa y no podáis asistir a clase, sepáis lo que hemos visto en clase Y OS PONGÁIS a ver, estudiar y a hacer los ejercicios en el LIBRO DIGITAL STUDENT'S BOOK.
Además, todos sabéis que en esa misma plataforma de la editorial Burlington hay otro libro: el INTERACTIVE. Pero este libro es para que vosotros vayáis haciendo a vuestro ritmo poco a poco los ejercicios y que, aunque podéis hacerlos todos si queréis (y ver lo vídeos que trae, etc para practicar listening, por ejemplo), os centréis en aquellos que pensáis que os hace más falta practicar.
Tener estos libros es una ventaja y además, en una situación como esta mucho más porque vosotros mismos podéis ver en qué falláis al hacer los ejercicios e intentarlo las veces que haga falta hasta que salga bien del todo. ADEMÁS, NO OLVIDÉIS QUE SI NO ENTENDÉIS POR QUÉ ESTÁ MAL UN EJERCICIO, ME PODÉIS ENVIAR UN CORREO Y OS RESPONDO ENCANTADO. Eso sí, es mejor que apuntéis todas las dudas y me las enviéis todas juntas en un solo correo cada día que trabajéis desde casa.
Como dije en el correo que os acabo de enviar, YO PUEDO VER DESDE MI ORDENADOR LO QUE HACÉIS TANTO EN EL STUDENT'S BOOK COMO EN EL INTERACTIVE.

A recommendation for practising and improving your listening skills
Hi again,
a few days ago I was surfing the web when I found a new app which I think can be useful for you to listen to English more often. This one is called BBC SOUNDS and it is available on the Google Play Store for free. If you download it, you will find lots of different programmes and podcasts from the BBC. Among all the stuff there are documentaries, typical music programmes which cover a wide range of styles, interviews with film actors and directors, humour and so on.
You will even find a podcast under the title "The secret life of teachers". Mmmmmm
Go take a look and leave a comment after you have listened to some of this audio material.

1 Bach A and B Daily update
Hello!
Today in 1 Bach A we started doing exercises on the Workbook. In particular we did and checked exercises 1-5 on pages 4 and 5, which dealt with vocabulary related to technology. Homework for Monday includes reading exercises 7-10 on page 9 SB in order to predict the content of a listening about misinformation that we will do at school. Also, I have already asked you to take a look at page 10 SB to refresh your grammar knowledge.
As for 1Bach B, we checked homework, which was exercises 1-4 on page 8 SB. Tomorrow we will check exercises 5 and 6. Homework for tomorrow is reading exercises 7-10 on page 9 SB so that you can predict content that you will listen to in the classroom related to misinformation.

Year 1 Bach A Daily update
Hi there!
This morning we checked homework due for today, which was exercises 1-5 on page 8.
Also, I asked you to have a look at page 8 (Student's Book) so that we can do some review exercises on those Present and Past tenses tomorrow in the classroom. If you feel like doing the exercises, no problem.
By the way, from now onwards: SB means or stands for Student's Book, WB means Workbook and IB means Interactive Book, ok?

Year 1 Bach B Daily update
Hellos guys,
this is your daily update on classroom work. Today in the morning we did exercises 2-4 on page 6 and 5,6 on page 7, both pages on the Student's Book. These exercises dealt with questions based on the text SOCIAL MEDIA helps in a storm, so it was all about Reading Comprehension.
Homework for Thursday are exercises 1 to 5 (1-5) on page 8, which will reinforce your knowledge of VOCABULARY related to technology.
