Looking for advice? Here's the right place if your social relationships are not at their best.

Hi there,

I have recently moved to O Barco from a place near the sea in Galicia because the company I work for opened new premises here in November 2018. When I arrived, I tried to focus on my job and maybe I did not pay enough attention to my social life...you know...making new friends. In the beginning it was ok because I was so busy at work that I only wanted to rest during my free time but now, after some months of loneliness...I'm starting to realise that I need somebody to do things when I am free. What can I do? Could you suggest some ideas?

Nacho

  2. Hi Nacho
You can install in your mobile phone one app to meet people in the city where you live. The social live it´s very important and you cant´t leave out. In this application you could even fall in love.

  3. Thanks, Amlau and Pablo for your interesting advice. However, I am not the type of person who really trusts social networks to meet new people. I'd rather use it to keep in touch or communicate with people I already know.
Can anyone else suggest something different?

  5. Hi Nacho!

I've read your problem and, if I were you, I would sing up for a gym. In fact, there's one here in O Barco where you can find a wide range of activities such as boxing, kickboxing, spinning or just running on the treadmill. Think about it. As I see it, it's a good way to know new people and keep in shape at the same time.

    Good luck!

  6. If you do not like sports and you enjoy eating, you can sign up for some cooking courses that I know. They are made here in the region and the most interesting; besides being free, you can meet people from the area which will help you adapt.

  7. Do you know your neighbours? It can be a good idea to meet people without having to move. You can start talking with them in the lift and end having dinner together or going for a stroll.

I hope that it will help you.

  8. Hi Nacho,

I have just seen your problem. I believe that you should join a dance academy because you could have fun and it's a good way to make new friends. You could go for a walk around O Barco with them or have a drink in one of the great pubs of our village.

    Good luck!

  10. If you are interested in meeting people, I would recommend you go to the gym or sign up in some sport that could interest you, besides being able to make friends you will get in fit.

  11. Hello Nacho! I just read your problem and I think the best advice can be to find an app to talk with people and make friends (even a girlfriend) or sign up for an activity like the gym or something like dancing. I do not know, the activity may be what you like or what you ever wanted to try! Good luck!

  14. Hello Nacho, If you are still asking for new friends and you don’t want to install an app or go to the gym, you can also search for other work like waiter in which you will be able of meet your co-workers or clients. In fact you will earn some money meanwhile. Good luck

  15. Hello Nacho. If you want to make new friends I recommend you practice some sport. If you want you can join the basketball team, where you will meet friendly and nice people while you get fit. Good luck.

  16. Hello Nacho!
You can start doing activities like going to the gym, playing on a team, going to the library ... there you may know people and you can talk since you don't like social networks. Good luck!

  18. Hi Nacho!
I have read your problem and, if you are looking to meet new people, you can go to a cafe. These establishments are fantastic if you want to feel comfortable talking to other people. Moreover, if you know someone there, we'll can have a nice chat while we drink something and later we can go out partying together and meet more people.

  19. Many thanks to all of you for caring so much about me and my social life. Guess what? I do not think I need any other people as long as I have you. Hehehe

  20. Hi Nacho!

I´ve just read about your concernt. If you arrive from the coast to meet new people, I recomend you to practise a water sport canoing, for example. In our smal village we have many other sports(football, hiking, climbing...). Just in case that you don´t like sports you may consider joining the reading club.
    Good luck!
